A Lost Lantern-selected single cask rye from Cedar Ridge, the largest distillery in Iowa and one of Lost Lantern's most regular partners. This single cask is an 8-year-old malted rye with incredible depth. This is a Lost Lantern tasting room exclusive.

Nose: Instead of standard rye spice, the malt brings out damp earth and dark cherry, like walking into a decades-old curing barn. Deeply caramelized molasses sits heavily in the glass.

Palate: It hits the tongue with an oily, motor-oil viscosity. You'll catch distinct waves of black espresso grounds and Dutch cocoa powder before a surprisingly tart burst of bruised plum resets the palate. A subtle herbaceous note mimics dried oregano.

Finish: It leaves a warming, numbing sensation similar to Szechuan peppercorn. The dense chocolate malt profile slowly fades into dry oak staves and a lasting grip of roasted walnut.

This malted rye's robust cacao and dark fruit elements make it a phenomenal partner for rich, savory dishes. Pair it alongside a heavily seared ribeye steak topped with blue cheese compound butter.
