D'Orsaria Pinot Grigio

Tenacious and strong-willed as the bears (orso) the family takes its name from, the Orsaria family has been crafting fine wines from the alluvial soil of the Colli Orientali Friuli, far in the eastern reaches of Italy. The bears have since moved on, as the woods they inhabited have been cleared for viticulture. The Orsarias work with both native and international varieties (notably Cabernet Franc) on their estate.

The Colli Orientali del Friuli is the cooler half of the greater Friuli wine country, some which stretches into neighboring Slovenia. Farther inland, the Colli Orientali was once a rising seabed, and the marl and sandstone deposits here make excellent vineyard sites.

Fresh, ripe pineapple with tropical fruit notes, and clean, crisp acidity.
