ABOUT

Clos Lapeyre, owned by Jean-Bernard Larrieu and his family, is located on the steep slopes of the Pyrenees in Jurançon. Farming the land since World War 1, the Larrieu family grew peaches and raised cows, eventually planting vines in the 1960s. In the 1970s, the family replanted all the vines on terraces, thereby best taking advantage of the slope, aspect, and natural drainage of the land. Larrieu captures the uniqueness of the region in his wines by committing to native varieties Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and Corbu and by allowing spontaneous natural yeast fermentation. The decades spent tending the land through multiple generations show clearly in the direct and natural expressions of Clos Lapeyre wines.

TASTING NOTES

An expressive and intensely citrus nose, with notes of white fruits and green hazelnut. Fresh and fruity on the attack, with a taught, aromatic and well-balanced palate with good persistence.
