ABOUT

This little 50ml Willett Family Estate 7 Year Single Barrel packs way more punch than its tiny frame suggests—pocket-sized purple top, full-sized attitude.

Drawn from a single barrel of 7-year Kentucky straight bourbon and bottled at a blistering 130 proof, it’s pure cask-strength Willett in a sampler format. High-rye mashbill character comes through clearly, with spice, citrus, and oak wrapped around a dense core of caramel and fruit.

Lift the glass and the nose hits with caramelized sugar, vanilla bean, and toasted oak first. Give it a second, and dark cherry, orange peel, and baking spice roll in, joined by a bit of cocoa and roasted peanut.
It smells like a dessert cart rolling through a well-worn rickhouse.

On the palate, the whiskey lands thick and intense, as you’d expect at 130 proof. Toffee, brown sugar, and vanilla fudge come first, quickly chased by spiced cherry cola, citrus oil, and crackling rye spice. Pepper, cinnamon, and clove flare across the mid-palate, balanced by charred oak and a hint of tobacco leaf. A splash of water stretches things out, teasing more fruit and turning the heat from sharp to slow and rolling.

The finish runs long, dry-leaning, and peppery, with charred wood, caramel corn, and baking spice trailing down the chest. Dark chocolate, orange zest, and toasted coconut hang on at the edges.

It’s a fantastic trial-size for Willett fans, perfect for splitting in a tasting line-up or tucking into a travel kit when you want something serious in a small pour.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Caramelized sugar, vanilla bean, and toasted oak rise first. Behind them sit dark cherry, orange peel, baking spice, cocoa powder, and roasted peanut, giving the aroma a rich, rickhouse-meets-dessert feel.

Palate: Full-bodied and punchy, the palate shows toffee, brown sugar, and vanilla fudge over spiced cherry cola and citrus oil. High-rye spice brings black pepper, cinnamon, and clove, while charred oak and a touch of tobacco keep the sweetness in check.

Finish: Long and warming, the finish leans into charred wood, caramel corn, and baking spice. Dark chocolate, orange zest, and toasted coconut linger on a gently drying oak frame, leaving your palate buzzing with heat and flavor.

FOOD PAIRING

This 7-year single barrel loves bold, salty, and fatty bites that can stand up to its 130-proof intensity.

Think char-crusted ribeye, smoked brisket ends, or bourbon-glazed pork ribs with plenty of bark.

Sharp cheddar, aged gouda, or a nutty alpine cheese turn into ideal snacks, cutting through the heat while echoing the caramel and oak.

For dessert, reach for pecan pie, dark chocolate brownies, or burnt-sugar bread pudding to play off its toffee, cocoa, and spice.

It also works well as a finale pour after a big meal, sipped slowly with nothing but a glass of water on the side.
