ABOUT
ABOUT
The Balvenie quietly preserves a nearly century-old tradition on its own malting floor. Hand-turning grain builds true character. By utilizing 100% home-malted barley, this twelve-year-old release isolates a labor-intensive process that most modern distilleries outsourced decades ago, allowing the makers to dictate the precise cereal profile from day one.
Maturation begins in American oak before the spirit transfers into ex-sherry bodega butts sourced from Jerez, Spain. The oak stays perfectly balanced. This secondary aging period layers serious depth over the bright distillate, creating a robust dialogue between the native green apple freshness and those dense, velvety sherry-driven fruits.
Released alongside a staggering 88-year-old sibling, this specific bottling honors the exact year their malting operation began. It completely stands its ground. Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie selected these specific casks to highlight the creamy, malt-forward heart of Speyside, delivering a remarkably textured single malt bottled at a sturdy 95 proof.
- 100% Home-Malted Barley
- Finished in Spanish ex-sherry butts
- Bottled at 47.5% ABV (95 Proof)
