Roark Wine Co. Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara Malbec

85% Malbec/15% Cabernet Franc from Happy Canyon, Santa Barbara. Gently rolling hills of varied soils -- loam and clay loam with red and yellow chert and serpentine cobbles. Slightly inland on the eastern end of Santa Ynez Valley, this vineyard is exceptional for Bordeaux varieties. Native yeast, neutral oak for 1 year. Unfined, unfiltered, tiny sulphur added at bottling.

It's severely tannic, with flavors of plums, blackberries and coffee.
