ABOUT
ABOUT
Thirteen years in Indiana and forty-four in Gascony. This pairing puts two very different kinds of patience side by side, and each one makes the other easier to understand.
Old Swagger comes from Ed Bley, the barrel picker behind Rising Tide Spirits. For this release, he married 15 barrels of MGP bourbon, all distilled on the same day. The bourbon came out of the barrel at 127 proof. Under the Bottled-in-Bond Act, it then had to be cut to exactly 100 proof, and the distillery, distillation season, and bonded storage all had to be documented. Thirteen years of Midwestern summers built up deep oak, while the bonded proof keeps it approachable at the table.
“Yak To The Future” comes from a single cask at Domaine du Carpoulat, a family estate in Fourcès, a medieval bastide village in Armagnac-Ténarèze. The region’s clay-limestone soils produce a fuller, rounder brandy style. OADE works directly with small Gascon producers and bottles one estate and one barrel at a time. Our community selected this cask as Prime Barrel Pick #170. Distilled in 1980, it spent 44 years in wood, long enough to develop deep rancio, the savory, nutty, leathery depth only very old brandy achieves.

MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Rising Tide Spirits selected and blended the barrels.

What is Armagnac-Ténarèze?
