ABOUT
90% Nero d’Avola, a musky and widespread red-berried grape, and 10% Grillo, a white-berried grape native to Sicily. The vines are 20 to 60 year old bush vine plantings, that is untrained beside a stick to tie up the sprawling vines.Certified organic farming in the vineyards. The grapes were co-fermented, both the red and white berried varieties macerated for 6 days. All native yeasts for the ferment, aged in steel tanks and bottled unfined and a light filtering. The only addition being a small degree of sulfites. The resulting wine is a light red, best served chilled. The FUSO project was instigated by the Italian importer, Portovino. The idea is affordable, low intervention wines from organic growers. “Daily drinkers” as they put it. This bottling is from the Sicilian winemaker Dario Serrentino.
