ABOUT

A family owned and operated winery since 1972.

When Tom purchased the 1870’s era winery in 1972 he established himself as a pioneer of mountain side wineries. At the time, there were only approximately 2 dozen wineries in operation in the whole of Napa Valley and he saw the potential of mountain vineyards to produce wines that evoke the French concept of terroir: that the grapes, and thus wines, should reflect the vineyard’s soil, exposure, and overall micro-climate

TASTING NOTES

The 2010 Merlot demonstrates a unique intense varietal personality along with a richness associated with the vintage. The most common flavor characteristics of Merlot, blueberries and black cherries, are stunning with a hint of mint. This region of Napa Valley is ideal for bringing Merlot to full maturity, with vines that are oriented north to south so that they capture both morning and afternoon sun, producing a full-bodied, rich, complex wine with a long lasting finish.

FOOD PAIRING

Merlot wine matches with a wide variety of foods because of its position in the middle of the red wine spectrum. In general Merlot pairs well with chicken and other light meats as well as lightly-spiced dark meats. With medium tannin and not too much acidity you’ll find Merlot pairs well with many foods.
