Founded in 1975 by Bernardo C. Weinert, Bodega y Cavas de Weinert is located in Mendoza, Argentina. The estate vineyards are located in the regions of Lujan de Cuyo, Maipu and Tupungato. The vines are 25-100 years old and are planted at 3,000-4,000 feet to well-draining, sandy and rocky soils. The varieties planted at the estate are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gamay, Chenin Blanc and Tempranillo.
Winemaker Hubert Weber follows a minimalist approach to winemaking. The grapes are fermented in cement vats and then aged neutral, large oak of Slovenian or French origin. The reds are aged for 2-4 years.
TASTING NOTES
This red shows black pepper, cherry, dried redcurrant, ripe plums, and black olives followed by flavors of grilled meat and hints of spice. A touch of oak balances the juicy and complex finish.
