ABOUT
ABOUT
Cepas de Familia is located in what is known as the first viticultural area of Argentina, Lujan de Cuyo, which has achieved international recognition for the excellence of it's wines. The wines come from vineyards in the Lujan de Cuyo region as well as from the Uco Valley.
Located in the town of Russell in the department of Maipu, Cepas de Familia grows 10 Ha of Malbec, 5 Ha of Bonarda, 2 Ha of Sangiovese and 1 Ha of Tempranillo. Most of this vineyard dates from 1960 and is driven by the parral system in order to preserve optimal production conditions, though they have been partially converted to Espaldero in order to lower yields and improve canopy management. The vineyards are irrigated using the traditional Surco method. In the district of General Ortega, which is also in the department of Maipu, lies "Finca Don Ortega", with a total of 14 hectares of Malbec planted in 1997 using a high espaldero system and drip irrigation.
