ABOUT

100% Grauburgunder

Marc and Nina Weinreich took over this family estate in 2009, and immediately began elevating the viticultural practices, focusing on organic methods. In fact, the Estate just completed the process of organic certification, so starting in 2016, they will be officially certified. Weingut Weinreich is located in Bechtheim, in the Wonnegau district of the Rheinhessesn wine region. (Interestingly, Wonnegau translates to “district of delight,” while Weinreich translates to “rich with wine,” so winemaking seems a pre-determined fate for this family). The estate covers 15 hectares and produces about 8,000 cases. Soils are dominated by limestone, loess, and clay, and a little chalk. The range of wines produced is exciting and diverse, including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Silvaner and Pinot Meunier, as well as an orange Pinot Gris and a Petillant Naturel.

TASTING NOTES

The smell reminds of fresh nuts and exotic fruits founded on earthy and mineral scent. The taste is a touch of candied fruit surrounded by vivacious acidity. A typical Pinot Gris full of harmony and vitality.
