New York Distilling Company Ragtime Rye Whiskey

This is distillery's first straight whiskey release.  The Ragtime Rye American Straight Whiskey (90.4 proof) is made from 72% NY rye, 16% NY corn and 12% malted barley.  Rye and corn was sourced from the Pedersen Farm upstate.   

The whiskey mash was fermented and distilled in our facility in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (405 Leonard St), where it also aged for no less than 3 years (the barrels ranged in age from 3 to 3.5 years) in 53 gallon, new, char #3, American white oak barrels (most of which came from ISC - Independent Stave Company).  Also, distillery let the barrels age in a very rustic, traditional manner, with no manipulation or climate control- putting New York's seasonal pattern of long, cold winters with short, hot summers to work.

Nose: Big allspice, cinnamon notes at first, then salted toffee followed by peach and red cherry compote. Finally, more spicy cinnamon stick and kiss of dark chocolate.

Palate: Entry chewy, pleasantly fiery, toasted rye bread with orange marmalade. Lingering spearminty finish. Overall, an exciting new straight rye whiskey, solid and flavorful, and a superb value.
