McKenzie Single Barrel Rye

Single barrel rye distilled by Finger Lakes Distilling in Burdett, NY. Selected by the local distro's spirits team and bottled exclusively for NY Market. Mash bill of NY-grown grains; 80% rye and 20% malted barley. Distilled on 9/2/16 in a continuous copper Vendome still and thumper. Aged over 6 years in 53-gallon oak barrels. Non-chill filtered; 50.55% ABV

This 6-year-old rye comes in at a crystal-clear frequency of 101.1 proof. This barrel sings a song of butterscotch and pecan pie; a note of freshly cut grass sneaks in there in a very pleasant way to complement the darker and richer flavors. Lime zest and sandalwood fill the glass and greet your nose with each sniff. The flavors of this barrel play on a very wide spectrum, but when you taste, everything comes together so beautifully. Texturally oily and dense…one of the best examples of New York whiskey you'd taste.
