Limited release blended Japanese whisky from Mars Shinshu in Nagano Iwai Tradition finished in Japanese chestnut casks for 4 months. Mash bill of 70% corn and 30% malted barley aged between 2–5 years in ex-bourbon, sherry, and American oak casks before finishing Brown sugar, maple syrup, and toasted grains on the nose, gentle tannin on the mid-palate lends structure to a rich maltiness. An elegant finish lingers long with notes of cacao. 40% ABV Release of 1152 bottles Chestnuts are a favorite cold-weather food in Japan, and this limited-edition Iwai Tradition release—entitled Fuyu which means “winter” in Japanese—celebrates this savory and highly seasonal treat.
