Dark ruby with purple reflexes, fine water edge. Delicately smoky underlaid dark berry fruit, delicate leafy spiciness. Tart blueberry & limestone nose, slightly meaty, white-peppery and herbaceaous. The white pepper of Blaufränkisch is joined here by rounder spices of oak. A very quintessential Blaufränkisch, this boasts a light-footed balance of cherry, dark berries, sprightly acidity and medium body in a sleek and elegantly silhouetted frame, with ripe, soft tannins.

Lean and transparent on the palate. Refreshing, with bright acidity and a salty mineral finish, albeit a bit short on fruit. At 12,5% this is a food companion (ideal with poultry, beef, pork, and venison), and of course a thirst quencher. Shows purity and typicity for the Leithaberg area in a cool vintage. Needs a bit of fat and salty charcuterie on the plate to round things out.
