The Reginato family has been growing grapes in the Uco Valley of Argentina for over 60 years. Since 2002, Luis Reginato has been making wines for some of the top wineries from Argengetina. In 2013, a new brand was born - Chaman. After seeing and tasting from vineyards across Mendoza, Luis had a vision for a great wine. He saw the grapes in his family’s vineyard – especially the Petit Verdot – and saw potential, lots of potential. The quality of the Petit Verdot was so high that when the vines matured, he decided to make it a focal point. La Consulta is a great place for these grape varieties because it is cool climate but still gets full ripening, so you get intense wines with structure and balanced acidity. A Chaman, or “Shaman” in English, is a unique person who brings guidance to the present by accessing knowledge of the past - mysterious, magical, and inspiring. Luis and his brother Pepe invite you to experience the enchantment handed down by their mentor, father, and vineyard chaman, Jose Reginato.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas of blackberry, coffee, mocha, chocolate, and fig. Sweet and creamy with good lift to the black raspberry, licorice, and violet flavors. Finishes with tongue-dusting but suave tannins and very nice length.
FOOD PAIRING
Try with shredded beef, lamb chops with mint jelly, or grilled salmon with sage and tarragon.
