Glenmorangie Astar 2017 Scotch Single Malt Whisky

Glenmorangie Astar returns after a five-year absence. Astar is matured in custom toasted casks made from slow-growing trees on north-facing slopes in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. The barrels harbor bourbon for four years before heading to Glenmorangie. That level of provenance doesn’t come cheap, which is why the original Astar was discontinued in 2012, just four years after its acclaimed appearance. The exquisite Glenmorangie aromas and flavors-floral, with rose hips and orange blossom-are, dialed up to new levels of intensity, while the voluptuous and sweet palate exudes harmony and balance

Nose: Rich in toffee and creme-brulee, drizzled with fresh menthol, warm cinnamon, and deep aniseed spices. Mint humbugs and a sweet honey-lemon complexity follows. 
Taste: Creme-brulee with a burst of mouth-watering pineapple, poached pears, and apricots, smothered with vanilla custard. 
Finish: The finish is long and smooth with a lingering mix of honey and almond, coconut ice and traces of aniseed.
