2011 Fratelli Serio And Battista Borgogno Barolo Nebbiolo
Vinification and ageing: maceration for 8-10 days in large oak casks, with frequent replacement and turning. Following a second fermentation called the maloactic, the wine is ready for ageing in large oak casks, three years for Barolo Vintage and minimun five years for Barolo Riserva. After bottling, the wine is allowed a further 6 months ageing in horizontal racks.
A mix of cherry and balsamic notes highlights this elegant, medium-weight Barolo. Tightens up on the finish, balanced on the astringent side.
Color: Alive and intense. Ruby red when young, taking on a garnet color with orange hints through aging.
Bouquet: Big and fruity with spicy ethereal highlights.
Flavor: Dry, full bodied and austere, with a vein of elegance and harmony.
