ABOUT

El Espolón Tequila is produced in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico by the Master Distiller Cirilo Oropeza at Destiladora San Nicolas (NOM 1440). The company was founded by Ramon Valdes former president of Casa Herradura. The agave for El Espolón is grown in the highlands region of Jalisco. They cook the agave for 18 to 20 hours. After the juice is extracted it is double distilled for five and half hours and then the tequila is filtered.

TASTING NOTES

The color is light straw, with medium wide spaced slow skinny legs. Its nose is mellow - ripe fruit, oaks barrel, vanilla. The mouth feel is a silky smooth that immediately coats the whole mouth. Its flavor is mild with note of ripe fruit and then the oak flavors start to kick in. The fruit flavors build back up toward the end. The aftertaste is a little less pleasant than the blanco - it burns the back of the throat and the a green oak flavor lingers on the tongue.
