2012 Enzo Tiezzi Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Cerrino
$45
ABOUT
The grapes spend a long time macerating on the skins during fermentation, resulting in a complex wine with high levels of extract and body. Maturation lasts some 4 years, 3 in Slovenian oak casks.
TASTING NOTES
Intense aromas of ripe fruit and vanilla on the nose. On the palate, ripe fruit flavors with full body, harmonious balance, good tannic structure and a long finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Sangiovese's high acidity and moderate alcohol makes it a very food-friendly wine when it comes to food and wine pairings. One of the classic pairings in Italian cuisine is tomato-based pasta and pizza sauces with a Sangiovese-based Chianti. Also try with roast and barbecued meat, mature cheeses and dry patisserie.
