2012 Chateau Haut Theron Cuvee Prestige Cahors Malbec
Dark, shiny and ruby color. Complex nose of black cherry with a hint of violet and blackberry.Earthy and rustic, while retaining some of the bright, sleek fruit Malbec is now known for. Elegant and long meaty palate with refined tannin and rich structure which stays on ripe fruit.
Unlike Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec doesn’t have a super long finish. Because of this, Malbec is great with leaner red meats (ostrich anyone?). The wine does extremely well with funky flavors like blue cheese and rustic flavors like mushrooms and cumin spice.Perfect Malbec food pairing would be a black pepper buffalo burgers with blue cheese mushrooms and rosemary infused garlic kale chips.
