I don’t have much to say about the Jameson whiskey, which must be familiar to most Irish whiskey drinkers. As for De Wine Spot, the service is very fast and the selection is good. One little quibble is about the packaging. I prefer packaging that doesn’t require scissors or a razor knife to remove. These are shipped with each bottle in securely taped bubble wrap, which must keep breakage down to a minimum, but which is slightly inconvenient to remove.
If you’re new to whiskey/whisky then Jameson is a good place to start. It is widely available and relatively inexpensive (for a non-blended whiskey). It also does not have the smoky peat flavors of some Scotch whisky, which may be an acquired taste for some. For Irish whiskey, I slightly prefer Red Breast, but unfortunately it is much more expensive than Jameson. For these reasons, Jameson is my “go to” whiskey for drinking straight up. Ordinarily it would be crazy to spend the high shipping fees on something so easily available locally, but it was good to discover DeWine during the epidemic so I don’t need to go out for it.
