Woodford Reserve Master's Collection No. 08 Classic Malt

Back in 2013, Woodford Reserve just did something very interesting, on the verge of awesome. For that year’s Master’s Collection release, they introduced TWO malt whiskeys – one aged in charred new oak (as is typical of bourbon), one in used (as is typical of Scotch). That’s right, these are malt whiskeys, which is highly unusual in the US and basically unheard of in Kentucky. AND they offer the chance to experience the difference that used vs. new barrels have on that malt whiskey.

Nose: The nose of Classic Malt is light and aromatic, with inviting notes of malted barley, honey, and toasted nuts. Subtle hints of vanilla, fresh fruits such as apple and pear, and a touch of floral undertones add complexity and depth to the bouquet.

The use of 100% malted barley imparts a rich, grain-forward character, with layers of roasted nuts and a hint of citrus zest creating a well-rounded and sophisticated profile.

Finish: The finish is long and clean, with lingering notes of malt, vanilla, and a gentle spice. A soft warmth remains on the palate, leaving a refined and elegant aftertaste that reflects the whiskey’s unique single malt style.

Woodford Reserve Master's Collection No. 08 Classic Malt pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. Enjoy it with roasted chicken or seafood to complement the whiskey’s light and balanced profile.
