ABOUT

Art and whisky converge in this singular release. The Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Single Cask #5790 is a Japanese single malt distilled in 2016 from a blend of Propino and Concerto barley, matured for seven years in a single first-fill ex-bourbon barrel, then bottled at 63.7% ABV. Limited to only 188 bottles in the U.S., this expression is as rare as it is refined. The aroma opens with honeyed malt, ripe pear, and a hint of white chocolate. On the palate, orchard fruit yields to warm vanilla, toasted oak, and a ripple of cinnamon spice. The finish lasts: malt sweetness softens, oak grows firm, leaving a delicate trace of floral incense—typical of Chichibu’s craftsmanship. This bottle isn’t just Japanese whisky—it’s a collector’s piece, a moment in time captured in wood and spirit.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Honeycomb, ripe pear, vanilla pod, malt biscuit, light cedar.

Palate: Caramel-apple, toasted oak, crème anglaise, cinnamon spice, subtle chalky minerality.

Finish: Long and elegant with malt sweetness fading into oak-driven dryness and a whisper of incense.

FOOD PAIRING

Pair with apricot tarte tatin or vanilla panna cotta to mirror the malt and vanilla layers. For savory, try herb-crusted lamb loin or roasted pheasant breast to complement the oak and spice. A soft triple-cream brie or aged Manchego offers a delicate contrast to the high proof and malt richness.
