ABOUT

Hampden Estate was founded in 1753 and has been distilling rum for almost three centuries in the Trelawny Parish, historically known as the grand cru of Jamaican rum. Renowned throughout the world for its full, intensely flavorful rums, Hampden Estate has always produced quintessential, heavy pot still pure single rums, using unique methods that guarantee its remarkable aromas and truly exceptional taste. The distillery is known for producing a large variety of distillates. LROK stands for Light Rum Owen Kelly, one of several marks made at Hampden Estate, which refers to a rum with a high but easily palatable ester concentration, ranging from 200 to 400 g/hLPA. This mark created in 1952 belongs to the wedderburn category, i.e. the heavy rums. In this case the ester content is of 314,8 gr/hLPA.

TASTING NOTES

Hampden Estate The Younger has been aged for 5 years in the tropical Jamaican climate. It combines aromatic intensity due to its tropical aging and the freshness of a young rum. The nose is fresh and fruity, with mango, banana, white pepper, and a bit of varnish in the distance. The palate is full of big pot still character, but decidedly gentle for the style typically, with lovely citrus zest, fresh pineapple juice, cloves, and cane syrup notes dominating. Bottled at 47% abv.
