ABOUT

Single Cask Nation is the only independent bottler of Scotch Whisky based here in the US. Owned and operated by Joshua Hatton and Jason Johnstone-Yellin, the aim is to uncover the finest and rarest single casks and then bottle them at full cask strength. Though the focus is on Scotch whiskies, Single Cask Nation also bottles wonderful bourbons, rye whiskies, Indian whiskies, and even cask-aged Mezcals from some of the most famous, well-known, and respected producers in the world.

Strathclyde is Glasgow’s only grain distillery, built on the site of an old cotton mill in 1927. Strathclyde contributes grain whisky to brands such as Ballantine’s and Chivas Brothers, and while no distillery-direct bottlings are available on the market, savvy independent bottlers prize the quality of Strathclyde’s distillate.

This bottling, distilled August 1993, spent 27 years maturing in a 1st-fill bourbon barrel. It was bottled at cask strength in August 2020 at 46.7% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

A nose of lemon pepper and Weissbier introduces a palate of wildflower honey, fresh grass, lemon meringue, and hibiscus with a medium-long, brooding finish of clove and orange oil. Cask # 243375 yielded a total of 109 bottles.
