The TAMANOHIKARI brewery (now the TAMANOHIKARI Sake Brewing Corporation) was founded by Rokuzaemon Nakaya in 1673. Thanks to three centuries of customer satisfaction, it has earned a reputation as one of the top Sakemakers in Japan. The word TAMANOHIKARI was originally associated with the Hayatama Shrine which, according to legend, was dedicated to the Sun Goddess. "Tama" signifies the polished gem and the spirit of the goddess, and "Hikari" stands for "brilliance and prosperity" TAMANOHIKARI Sake first won the hearts of sophisticated gourmets of Kyoto, the city that was the capital of Japan for more than 1000 years, and now it is pleasing the palates of Sake connoisseurs all over the country.
