This is a bottle of bourbon that is so special, it even has a whole book written about it. Known as The Best Bourbon You'll Never Taste, this legendary drink was distilled back in Spring of 1974. It comes from a single batch of 400 barrels that was commissioned by Adolph Hirsch and distilled under contract at Michter's distillery, which was then known as Pennco and located just outside Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania. Hirsch, a former Schenley executive, briefly worked at Michter's and is believed to have commissioned the whisky as a financial favor to the distillery, with little plans for its use. As a result, it aged in the warehouses for much longer than expected for a bourbon during that time. The brand was eventually sold to Preiss Imports, who moved the subsequent and final bottling (technically re-bottling) to Kentucky Bourbon Distillers' Willett facility. In his book, author Charles K Cowdery describes the bourbon as one of the "best whiskeys I've ever tasted." The mash bill contains 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley.
