ABOUT

Fattoria di Faltognano is located in the hills of Montalbano, between Florence and Pisa. Purchased by descendents of the Bardzky Comparini family around 1,000 A.D, the vineyards are planted downhill towards the town of Vinci, where the sandstone and calcareous soils found on the slopes blends with the sandy clays from the lower Arno plain. Given the longevity of the estate, the vines at Faltognano have naturally evolved over time and are now singular clones perfectly suited to the area's soils and climate. The estate vineyards are planted at different altitudes, effecting ripening periods. Each parcel is harvested at the optimal peak of ripeness, handpicked, destemmed and vinified separately.

TASTING NOTES

This is aromatic Chianti from vineyards around Vinci, the village west of Florence famed for its native son Leonardo. Medium-bodied with aromas and flavors of cherries, red fruits, violets, vanilla, spice and tobacco. On the palate, it boasts soft tannins and a long, silky finish.

FOOD PAIRING

Pair this with rabbit, veal, spaghetti in tomato sauce, or roast pork. This is a great value, but more than that, it's just a good wine.
