ABOUT

Established in 1931 in Trentino, Italy, Cantina Rotaliana di Mezzolombardo is a 395 acre property located in the valley floor between Rocchetta Pass and mountain ranges of Alto Adige. The vineyard straddles the Adige and Noce rivers, where moderate climates and fertile soils provide the ideal environment to grow Teroldego grapes.

To encourage proper and even ripening, each vine is pruned so that there are only two fruitproducing canes. Further, no chemical fertilizers are used and veraison is routine.

Hand-harvested fruit was destemmed and gravity fed to stainless steel tanks.

The first fermentation occurred naturally with pump overs to encourage proper tannin extraction.

After the first racking, malolactic occurred naturally and then the wine was racked a second time to remove solids and aerate the wine. After 5-6 months, the lots were blended and lightly filtered before bottling.

TASTING NOTES

Dark purple color with flavors of black cherry, wild blueberry, and dark plum. A youthful wine with balance, concentrated fruit, intermingled with dried herbs and almonds.
