2022 Schiavenza Langhe Nebbiolo

Schiavenza’s Langhe Nebbiolo delivers classic Piedmont character without the weight of a DOCG. Grown on vineyards around Monforte, Serralunga d’Alba and Sinio at 300–400 m altitude, the 2022 vintage bursts with elegance and aromatic clarity. Fermented and macerated in concrete vats, then aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for added structure, the wine remains transparent in color yet complex in expression. Expect a wine that’s refined, expressive, and food-friendly—but still youthful and approachable.

Nose: Bright scents of rose petals and sour cherry open the glass. Underlying aromas of black cherry, raspberry and a hint of balsamic spice add depth and intrigue.

Palate: Medium-bodied and vivid. Flavors of cranberry, cherry, and red-berry compote meet a mineral thread and a gentle herbal lift. Acidity stays lively, while tannins provide a firm but graceful structure.

Finish: The finish is persistent and dry — bittersweet cherry skin, subtle liquorice, a whisper of leather, and a slightly chalky mineral note linger. Balanced and poised.

Pairs beautifully with rich northern-Italian dishes — think mushroom risotto, truffle-accented pasta, or braised beef ragù. Also excellent alongside grilled lamb chops, aged cheeses (like Pecorino or Taleggio), or hearty autumn stews with herbs.
