ABOUT

The cuvee “Ammonite”, stands for the type of fossils found there and the grapes come from a vineyard overlooking the Loire river on a granite slope. Hand harvested, the grapes are slow pressed over 4 hours releasing their natural richness. Using only indigenous yeast, a cold fermentation lasting 10 to 12 weeks takes place in 600 liters old oak barrels (averaging 40 years of age).

Chateau Gaudrelle, dates from 1537, is the brand name of the estate. Owner and winemaker Alexandre Monmousseau’s family has run the estate since his grandfather purchased it in 1931 and he makes sparkling, dry and sweet wine from the Chenin Blanc grape as well as a sparkling rosé from Grolleau and Cabernet Franc. He cultivates 20 hectares of vineyards averaging 35 years in age. Château Gaudrelle is located in the heart of the Loire Valley between Tours and historic Amboise, overlooking the beautiful Loire river.
