El Dorado 25 Year Rum

El Dorado is produced at Demerara Distillers Limited, which was originally part of the Diamond Estate collective on Guyana and is now the sole producer of rums in the region. El Dorado is a blend of rums produced in different types of stills, both old and modern. The 25 Year was created to mark the turn of the millennium, using rums aged in ex-bourbon casks. Note: packaged in a fetching glass decanter.

The demerara style rum of this age is going to be heavy and rich. However, there's an impressive finesse to it. Dark, roasty chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, caramel and espresso are cut with earthy walnut and bitter, smoky tobacco. This possesses more spice than the other expressions -with sprinklings of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and clove. If you're lucky enough to sip this, you're definitely doing something right in your life.
