ABOUT

The DC-768 Double Oak Single Barrel Bourbon is an exceptional release that combines craftsmanship, unique finishing, and a bold flavor profile. Distilled at MGP Indiana in May 2015, this bourbon spent most of its life maturing in Florida's hot and humid climate, where the accelerated aging process allowed for deep oak extraction and rich flavors. In a unique twist, half of the original barrel (MF-768) was re-barreled into a secondary cask to create this distinct Double Oak expression.

The Double Oak Experiment:

After starting its life in the MF-768 barrel, we wanted to push the boundaries of flavor by finishing this exceptional bourbon in a secondary cask. But not just any cask would do. We selected an empty barrel from our one-of-a-kind charity release—a 9-year-old New Riff Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon. The results exceeded our expectations. We’re thrilled with how both expressions turned out, but we want you to be the judge. Try both and decide for yourself which is your favorite.

Distillation and Aging:

  • Mash Bill: 75% corn, 21% rye, 4% malted barley
  • ABV: 63.7%
  • Distillation: MGP Indiana, May 2015
  • Aging: Majority in Florida, finished in a secondary New Riff charity barrel
  • Bottling: August 2024, just over 9 years of aging

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Rich aromas of orange creamsicle, butterscotch, and sweet vanilla create a warm and inviting bouquet.
  • Palate: Creamy crème caramel and honeycomb ice cream dominate, followed by a pop of lemon peel and rock candy brightness.
  • Finish: A long and satisfying finish with layers of maple syrup, leather, and a subtle hint of spiced oak.

Florida’s Climate Advantage:

Aging in Florida’s intense heat and humidity accelerates the interaction between whiskey and wood, creating a bolder, richer flavor profile. This unique environment imparts deep vanilla, dark fruit, and spice notes that rival bourbons aged much longer in traditional Kentucky warehouses.

Limited Release:

This Double Oak single barrel selection is a must-have for any serious bourbon collector. With its unique finishing in our exclusive New Riff charity barrel, it delivers a distinct flavor experience that stands out from the crowd. Don’t miss your chance—quantities are extremely limited.
