ABOUT

Domaine de la Louvetrie is a small, family-owned winery located in the village of Muscadet in the Loire Valley of France. After working alongside his father for 12 years, Joseph Landron took over the family estate. The 111 acre property is nicely situated at the top of the appellation and is entirely planted to the regional varietal, Melon de Bourgogne. Each of the domaine's bottlings expresses the rich diversity of soils found within its vineyards.

The estate has been organically farmed since 1999 and in 2002, was awarded official certification by ECOCERT. Since 2011 the estate has been certified biodynamic. The fruit is picked by hand and only juice from the first press is used. After a slow and long fermentation period of two weeks, the wines (with the exception of Amphibolite) are left on their lees for 6-14 months before bottling directly from tank by gravity.

TASTING NOTES

The wine is fruity, aromatic, and lively with notes of citrus and iodine, unusual roundness and a pleasantly lingering finish.

FOOD PAIRING

If there's one food that pairs impressively with Muscadet, it's oysters. Oysters and Muscadet, one is told, go together like Mickey and Mouse. They are an inseparable duo, which is all fine and good, if you like oysters.
