2022 San Fereolo La Lupa

Regular price $35

ABOUT

Bold for a rosato. The 2022 La Lupa from San Fereolo flips conventional expectations — vibrant and textured, with serious backbone. It’s crafted by Nicoletta Bocca in the Valdibà-subzone of Langhe, from saignée of Dolcetto (with a splash of Gewürztraminer) harvested from biodynamically farmed plots. The colour glows like sunset-rose, the energy is fresh and lively, yet there’s depth: earth, spice, and minerality weaving through the fruit. This is a rosato that asks to be enjoyed deliberately—not just for warm-weather sipping, but for thoughtful dining, too.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: A burst of wild strawberry, blood-orange zest and pink grapefruit opens the glass, layered with subtle spice and a whiff of wet stone and alpine herbs.

Palate: Crisp acidity strikes early, carrying crunchy red cherry and kiwi-lime tones, framed by slight tannic texture from the skin contact. The body is animated but grounded, the minerality palpable.

Finish: The finish lingers with chalky stone, a whisper of peppery spice and a dry clarity that leaves the palate clean yet intrigued. It’s rosato with intent.

FOOD PAIRING

Serve this with herby grilled white meats (think rosemary-infused pork loin), wild mushroom risotto, cherry tomato & burrata crostini, or even pan-seared tuna with a citrus-olive-oil drizzle. It handles rich cheeses (like aged Pecorino) and rustic charcuterie boards too — anything where fresh acidity and minerality help cut through flavour.
