The Barrell Private Release Series is a project in detailed blending on a scale small enough to allow extreme precision.​

The Private Release Series lets the brand exercise its blending expertise while maintaining a single barrel-like scale controlled entirely by hand and palate. The goal is always to maximize the best attributes of each component. Every ounce of every ingredient changes the overall character of these blends, as does the barrel in which each one is aged. For that reason, these barrels take months to polish and perfect. While the recipe for each release may not be replicated, the unique nature of each ingredient and the barrel they are married in makes every bottling singularly unique.

Each release of the Private Release Whiskey is a unique blend of whiskeys. Once created, these blends are married in single casks, many of which were previously used for other spirits and/or wines.

In our experience, we have had a Private Release Bourbon introduced previously, which was perfected in a PX Sherry cask, marking one of our finest selections in 2022.

The Private Release Rye Whiskey is a fresh addition to the series, offering various finishing cask choices. We had the privilege of tasting variations finished in Armagnac, Tokaji, and Oloroso Sherry casks. Among these, the Oloroso Sherry cask finish stood out remarkably, adding a refined touch to the Private Release series with a contrasting sherry finish.
