Australia
Blockbuster wines with disproportionally low price tags. There is some other stuff going on in Australia, but this is where most people tend to focus. Shiraz and Cabernet are the 'red' stars of the show, with Chardonnay as the predominantly white, but there are some truly exceptional winemakers experimenting with nearly every grape varietal on the planet, with (usually) excellent results. It's worth remembering when talking about Australian wine, that there is an absolutely astonishing variation in terroir across the country (as one might expect from a country with a landmass 33 times that of the UK), and that matching grape to terroir (territory?) becomes a lot easier when you've got such space to play with.
