Nose: Nutty banana bread, apple cider and light plum, English toffee, some clove and sharp cinnamon. There can be hints of citrus, but I don’t get it as much as the tasting notes lead on. After a few minutes some floral tea, bigger plum, and honey on a grain heavy wheat bread develops, which is all really nice. Very sweet and fruity, very little wood and very clean.
Sip: Great texture, oily, full, but that first taste is HOT! After a few days it settles down nicely and become dangerously easy to sip. Maple donut, banana pudding, a nutty toffee and some apple and dark berry pie. The back is huge. The rye is heavy and flirts with bitter but stays around dark chocolate and some cheap pipe tobacco. The only sign of youth we get almost taste like malted barley smells, a bit funky, but it is a blip on the radar and seems to lessen as the glass sits.
